taking photographs in a hospital

I love taking photographs of a newborn baby in the hospital. I usually just take one camera, my 50mm 1.2 lens and my 100mm 2.8 macro lens. I also throw in my white balance target because hospital lighting is different. (You can get your own white balance target online here.) The light in a hospital room often feels colder, sometimes even a bit blue. And I usually have to set my ISO somewhat high cause it’s not usually real bright unless I’m right by a window.

This was this little baby boy’s second day in the world. I think it’s pretty special to be able to document moments like these. :)

My manual camera settings for the picture below were:
ISO – 2500
shutter – 1/160
aperture – F 3.2
lens – 50mm 1.2
camera body – canon’s 5D markII
