that blurry background

Everyone seems to love that blurry background, that buttery bokeh as it’s often referred to by the big wig photogs. :)  Basically bokeh is that blurry background, those beautiful blurry lights, and that gorgeous shallow depth of field. It is created through the use of a fabulous lens that has an aperture that can open up wide.

Here’s a picture that I took in Las Vegas at the WPPI (wedding and portrait photographers international) convention this past week. We were inside a mall at night and these fun lights were from a store front.

My manual settings for this image were:
ISO – 1250
aperture – F 2
shutter speed – 1/100 second
lens – 50mm 1.2
camera body – canon’s 5D mark II

When Canon’s 5D MARK III comes out, will you replace your canon 5D MARK II with it???
