soccer season

It’s soccer season for all the little peeps! So, it’s time to get that camera out and take out to the field. This past Saturday was my oldest’s first soccer game. So I took out one camera, one lens, with one battery and one memory card inside. No extras, no white balance target, etc. Gotta be simple. At least that’s how I roll on the soccer sidelines. :)

So, this week I took out my 85mm 1.2 lens (it’s a beauty….probably my fave lens) and took just a few pics. Now soccer games are usually in the full sun. They are usually in the morning or midday and don’t include trees and things so it’s a good time to practice shooting in full sun. Though my first shot below is in the shade (because I had the option) the rest are in full sun. Here are my manual settings:

For the pic below:
ISO – 250 (shade)
aperture – F 2.8
shutter – 1/1000 second

For the pic below:
ISO – 250 (just forgot to change it from shade shot)
aperture – F 2.8
shutter – 1/5000 second (very bright out)

For the pic below:
ISO – 100 (lowered it due to bright sun)
aperture – F 4.5 (multiple people)
shutter – 1/1000 second

For the pic below:
ISO – 100
aperture – F 2.8
shutter – 1/6400 second (very bright out)

Come on over to our bruises and bandaids facebook page and post some soccer or sport pics that you took! We critique each others and grow better together!

Wow… I love that last pic! So sweet :) Planning to have photo classes in January? I missed the last summer class… so I’d love to make it into the next one! Hopefully before I leave for my trip to China :)
